unintentional neglect
i wish that i had something deep and profound to contribute to the university after my lapse in time. alas, i return to my musings, not quite daily... but i'll put forth a valiant effort once again...
there have been a myriad of thoughts that have occupied the space in between my ears... some have lingered longer than others, some were flashes in the pan, and some still dwell there.
i guess it is better to blog more frequently, than to sit on that BIG idea that may or may not be forthcoming... it's weird, the more you try to induce it, the more evasive it is... "necessity is truly the mother of invention"... hence, i'll just put forth an effort to tranfer ideas more frequently...
there have been two occasions that i felt truly compelled to write in the recent weeks. both were after conversations/ discussions with men who i very much respect. the first was my grandfather... we were speaking the last time i was home in detroit in the kitchen. we talked about a myriad of things, but one of the things that he said was applicable and blog-worthy in and of it self... "an empty wagon makes the most noise."
immediately after he said it, i had to write it down to make sure that i remembered it... specifically for this purpose... while it has been multiple weeks, it still remains between the ears. i immediately thought of individuals that make LOTS of noise; they generally have the least amount of substance. those that tout their "abilities", whatever they may be... generally are not the masters of their craft... while he or she may be good, it is highly probably that the aforementioned is NOT the best. in my limited experience, the best at any discipline doesn't tout their abilities... they allow others to do it, or their abilities talk for themselves... hence, if i ever start to pop off at the gums... or begin to talk incessantly for those not hip to the urban jargon... please remind me that "an empty wagon makes the most noise."
so that i do not compromise that position, i'll leave the meeting with les gelb for the next blog...
